THE ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN FOUNDATION GIVES INAUGURAL COMMUNITY GRANT
In November 2021, the first annual Impact Dallas Gala was launched to celebrate the role design plays in solving real-world problems, connecting communities, and improving peoples’ lives. At the Gala, we were proud to showcase a few of the people and projects making an impact in our city through the newly established AD EX Community Cornerstone Award. This event raised funds to help grow our established programs and operations, and more importantly, seed our community grant program.
The Architecture and Design Foundation was delighted to grant $30,000 of the funds raised at the Impact Dallas Gala to Camp Summit to help make the 2021 AIA Dallas Emerging Leaders Program’s designs for a welcome center, new cabins, and more, a reality.
The AD EX Community Cornerstone Award is intended to be an annual award funded by the Impact Dallas Gala.
ABOUT CAMP SUMMIT
The 2021 ELP class worked with Camp Summit on four projects: a camper cabin prototype, a welcome center, a landscaped path with donor recognition, and signage and wayfinding throughout the camp. The camper cabin prototype can be repeated throughout the camp to meet the anticipated need of two additional cabins and beyond as the camp continues to grow. The welcome center will house the camp’s administrative functions and be the first step of the campers’ check-in process. The landscaped path will recognize donors, summarize the camp’s history with a timeline, and provide a reprieve from the busy camp setting. The wayfinding will expand the camp’s mission of fostering independence by aiding campers in their ability to navigate camp.
