The Architecture and Design Foundation Awards $54,000 in Scholarships and Fellowships

The Architecture and Design Foundation honored their 2021 scholarship and fellowship recipients at a private breakfast at the Architecture and Design Exchange on Wednesday, July 7. The Foundation awards a variety of scholarships and fellowships to support the next generation of architects, providing tuition support and travel and research project funds to high school and college architecture students, as well as young architects just beginning their careers. The scholarship program works to make architecture education accessible to all and diversify research in architecture.

This year, the Architecture and Design Foundation introduced four new opportunities. Coupled with increased award amounts, these additions more than double the Foundations available funding each academic year. For the 2021-2022 cycle they awarded $54,000, a $39,000 increase from previous years.

“The scholarship program at the Architecture and Design Foundation is very meaningful to our donors, our board members, and me.” Dave Schmidt, PE, President-elect of the Architecture and Design Foundation shared. “We have the unique privilege of being part of the careers and lives of these young professionals. Our awards celebration is the pinnacle of our Foundation’s work and an essential part in increasing diversity in our city.”

The 2021 scholarship and fellowship class represent three students from CityLab High School, one student from Little Elm Independent School District, one student from Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD, two students from UTA CAPPA, one student from UT Austin, an architect from Dallas, an emerging professional from Houston and an emerging professional now working and living in Colorado and former CAPPA graduate.
