Event Details
This North Texas Giving Day, we ask for your support in fueling the transformative work of the Architecture and Design Foundation in advancing our education initiatives. The Foundation is committed to shaping the future of our cities by imparting crucial skills to students, nurturing them to evolve into the visionary leaders of tomorrow.
Empowering Tomorrow’s Trailblazers
Designing My Future Camps bring together students from Kindergarten to High School Seniors and teaches STEM skills with hands-on learning guided by architecture and design educators. At these day camps, campers learn the basics of design thinking and apply them to real-world projects; they tour downtown landmarks and visit local firms to discover who builds the city; and they build confidence in expressing their ideas through writing, drawing, public speaking, and play.
Art of Architecture is an annual juried competition for Middle School and High School students to visualize and creatively express spatial concepts with drawing, photography, sculpture, print-making, and painting. Entries are displayed in the AD EX gallery space in downtown Dallas to showcase the rising young talent of North Texas.
The Foundation encourages the exploration of the built environment for students of all ages and provides financial support for these students seeking a formal architecture and design education and research with over $40,000 in Scholarships and Fellowships granted annually. From early childhood to higher education, the Foundation supports students and professionals in the architecture and design related industries at every stage.
Design Thinking, Cultivated Across Generations
At the AD EX, the Foundation provides free programs like Build Your City! to educate kids and adults about who creates the built environment and how to be a part of making better, more equitable cities for the future. We also provide At-Home Activities that give you the tools you need to teach design thinking and to become active design advocates in your community at any age. Our annual winter exhibition, Building Toys and Toy Buildings, along with our year-round LEGO Lab highlight the popular and vintage toys and remind us that everyone is a builder and can realize their own structural ideas and inventions.
The Architecture and Design Foundation prides itself in being the only organization of its kind in North Texas, offering meaningful dialogue, paths to educational attainment, and everyday celebration exploring how design improves and impacts our daily lives. We could not do it without you – and offer our sincere thanks for your support and engagement.
Early giving opens September 1. Make your gift today at: https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/organization/DallasADEX

Fair Park, a celebration of art, architecture, and industry, is a cultural and historic gem in the heart of Dallas. Join us for a motorized tour of the park while we fill you in on its amazing past and talk about its exciting future.
Architecturally, Fair Park is one of the world’s largest collections of Art Deco buildings with a unique design approach that Chief Architect George Dahl described as “Texanic.” Integral to the buildings and the grounds are numerous works by renowned artists that celebrate the history and achievements of Texas during the first 100 years of independence. First established for the Dallas State Fair in 1886, Fair Park was transformed in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition. It is one of Dallas’ greatest cultural assets, hosting events year-round and exhibitions and serving as home to numerous cultural institutions. In 1986, it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
In partnership with Fair Park First, the Dallas Architecture and Design Exchange presents hour-long lunchtime tram tours on the third Wednesday of the month at several times throughout the year. Tickets are $10 for general admission, and $5 for students and seniors.
