Designing My Future: Edible Skyscraper Virtual Workshops
Saturday, March 20, 2021
Please be sure to register for the corresponding time frame for the age of your student:
- Ages 6 to 8 – 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

AD EX, in collaboration with the AIA Dallas Education Outreach Committee, is excited to continue and grow its architectural day camps for students with the addition of two spring workshops for ages 6 to 11. Our “Edible Skyscraper” activity introduces the concepts of structural components of skyscrapers, withstanding earthquakes, human scale design, and building typologies – all while designing and building a structure with the fun food materials given.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- Tallest Skyscraper
- Least Expensive Skyscraper
- Best Design
- Structural Seismic Integrity
- Most Edible
Additional at-home instructional activities will be provided to keep the architectural exploration going!
The series is developed by practicing architects, in partnership with K-12 and nonprofit educators. Students will not only learn about career paths in architecture, design, and engineering, but also explore how to use design to become better stewards of their neighborhoods and champions for a more functional, beautiful, and equitable city. Our K-12 activities inspire, encourage, and educate students about architecture while highlighting the importance of creative problem solving.
$20 – all materials included
