Amy Walton started modTEXAS last year to draw attention to Texas modernism and to celebrate the institutions who are working to preserve it. In an effort to “make preservation sexy,” Instagram users are invited to share their favorite shots of midcentury design using the #modtexas hashtag. With the goal of creating the largest collection of Texas modernism on the internet, her Mapping Mod challenge has crowd-sourced more than 2,000 contributions inspired by monthly themes like architectural details and car culture.
Join us for a Lunch Learning Session with Amy as she talks about the Instagram project, her favorite modernist structures, and modTEXAS’ future plans, including an annual modernism event. We’ll gather at 11:30 a.m. and Amy’s presentation will begin at noon. Bring your lunch and join us for a conversation about all things Texas and Modernist.
To RSVP, e-mail info@DallasADEX.org. Please include LLS:modTEXAS in the subject line.
