Event Details

The Bauhaus opened its doors in 1919 and in the hundred years since has become one of the most important influences on modern international architecture and design. Its legacy includes the work of teachers and alumni such as Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer, Mies van der Rohe, Anni Albers, and many others.  Its principles then influenced the works of Florence Knoll, Ray and Charles Eames, and even Philip Johnson.

Join Bob Meckfessel as he discusses the Bauhaus and its history, philosophy and its impact on architecture and design across the globe.

Bob Meckfessel is an activist architect with more than 30 years of experience in the planning and design of institutional, residential, and commercial projects throughout North America and Asia. He serves as the vice-president for Docomomo US, a non-profit organization dedicated to the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites, and neighborhoods of the modern movement.

We’ll gather at 11:30 a.m. Feel free to bring your lunch as we settle in for a lively presentation and discussion. Bob’s presentation will begin at noon.
