Event Details

The latest issue of AIA Dallas’ Columns looks at the concept of Edges. In “An Urban Edge Revisited,” urban planner Bud Melton examines the Katy Trail—How did an abandoned railway line become a connecting spine in our city?

The Katy Trail grew out of a roughly 3.5-mile stretch of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railway (MKT) line that roughly parallels Central Expressway from Mockingbird to downtown Dallas. Over the years, the Katy Trail has become one of many urban edges—or seams– upon which growth and new developments continue to occur.

Join Bud as he discusses the history, context and ongoing promise of the Katy Trail.

Bring your sack lunch for a small, casual discussion about the Katy Trail and the changes it has made–ad continues to make–in our city. We’ll gather and begin lunch at 11:30 a.m. Bud’s presentation will begin at noon.

Free and open to the public. Please RSVP to info@DallasADEX.org with LLS-Katy Trail in the subject line
