Sustainable is Attainable

April 16 - June 15, 2024

The Sustainable is Attainable exhibition, presented by Architecture and Design Foundation, brings climate change into focus at a local level and provides the steps North Texas residents can take to address it.

The exhibition uses the Dallas Comprehensive Environmental & Climate Action Plan (CECAP) as a foundation. CECAP, adopted by the City of Dallas in 2020, outlines the activities that the city will undertake to improve quality of life, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to prepare for the impacts of climate change, and to create a healthier and more prosperous community. Sustainable is Attainable, developed by the AIA Dallas Committee on the Environment (COTE), uses CECAP as a roadmap to provide actionable suggestions for how everyone can participate in achieving a more sustainable future.

The current climate emergency will impact all of us, affecting our health, resilience, and quality of life. This exhibition explores key topics such as air quality, buildings, food access, water, and zero waste, while prioritizing solutions that place equity at the center of realizing a more resilient future. Through smart approaches to design, such as high-performance technologies in buildings or homes, and personal choices like adopting cleaner modes of transportation, planting gardens, and installing efficient appliances that consume less energy and water, we can all contribute to improving overall public health, resilience, and quality of life.

The exhibition is available in both English and Spanish languages. The City of Dallas and the AIA Dallas Committee on the Environment are hosting related programming for both children and adults throughout May and June. See schedule below.
