Meet the 2026 Art of Architecture Jurors
The art of designing buildings requires us to visualize three-dimensional spaces and creatively convey that perception to the viewer. The Art of Architecture is a juried art competition and exhibition encourages middle school and high school students to study these visual aspects of architecture and express their observations creatively.
Winning artworks will be on display at AD EX in the Spring of 2026, and winners will be honored at the AD EX Scholarship & Awards Breakfast on June 5, 2026.

Brad McCorkle
Brad McCorkle is the Materials Workshop Manager and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs at UT Arlington. He is a two-time graduate of the architecture program at UTA. Brad is a designer, artist and fabricator who enjoys sharing the knowledge he has gained from years of fabrication and construction experience with his students.
Brad began teaching at UTA shortly after graduation. While teaching and working with Richard Ferrier, FAIA, he was offered an opportunity to teach at Prairie View A&M University, where he coordinated first and second year and ran the materials workshop. He later taught at The Art Institute of Houston before stepping out in partnership with Christopher Barboza AIA, to start a design and fabrication firm, Altus Designworks. Altus allowed Brad to gain experience in working with clients in creative ways, primarily focused on steel fabrication, furniture and objects.
In 2015, Brad was offered a position to teach sophomore design at UTA. After moving back to Arlington and starting the fall semester, he was asked to join the design/build studio which had recently been reinstated. Since that time, he has continued to teach design but his main focus has been design/build. He has also worked for HA Architecture in Austin on a number of projects including the Waller Creek Conservancy’s Creek Show, a number of private residences, and The Cedars Ranch, a green wedding venue in Wemberley, Tx. Since returning to Arlington, he has continued to do small projects, both residential and commercial.
Brad has continued to develop the watercolor skills and conceptual approach to drawing that he learned from Richard Ferrier. The drawings explore architectural ideas, layering, details and spatial relationships through watercolor, graphite, color pencil and physical constructs. In 2019 and again in 2024, his conceptual work won the Richard B. Ferrier Award for Best Physical Delineation at the annual Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition.
Brad believes in teaching through hands-on experience, that all students should have knowledge of standard construction practices and be able to create design-specific details related to a project. Brad regards the educational process of taking a project from ideation, through design, and lastly construction, as one of the most influential, for students, in the school. “Learning that what they draw has implications in reality is one of the greatest lessons for architecture students.”
Khang Nguyen
Founder and Principal of Studio IMMI. Khang was born in Cantho City, Vietnam. Immigrating to the United States in 2012, he received his master Degree from UT Arlington in 2014 and naturalization as American citizen in 2024.
Prior to founding studio IMMI in 2025, Mr. Nguyen was Design Director of Entertainment Studio of 5GStudio in Dallas (2022-2024), and Senior Design Manager of Studio V Architects (2024-2025), Project Designer of Omniplan (2020-2022). During his time at 5G Studio and Omniplan, Mr. Nguyen led the design, management, and marketing efforts of numerous various-scale commercial and planning projects across the United States.
As Founder and Principal of Studio IMMI he is in charge of many projects and is responsible for the firm’s new commissions.
Lisa Casey, ASLA, Hon. AIA Dallas
Lisa Casey, a professional landscape architect, has experience bringing complex projects into reality for mixed use projects and park systems. She focuses on design that brings wholeness to people and places, emphasizing placemaking and children’s outdoor environments in civic and mixed-use spaces. Her creative inspiration starts with the existing context, client collaboration, and extensive travel and sketching experience.
She has lived and traveled in Europe and explored much of the US with a sketchbook in hand. She has also participated in ASLA’s annual sketch crawls in Boston, Denver, Chicago, and New Orleans. Her curiosity provides a wellspring of references and knowledge that supports creative solutions tailored to each individual site. Lisa received the Kay Tiller Chapter Service Award in 2016 for her work with the state ASLA chapter and the Outstanding Service Aware in 2018 for her work with national ASLA.
Bob Bullis, FAIA
Bob Bullis, FAIA, serves on JHP’s leadership team as Director of Hospitality/Highrise Design. With thirty-five years of place-making experience featuring a diverse design portfolio—including mid/high-rise hospitality, residential of all densities, and urban mixed-use developments—Bob’s expertise is in creating destinations that are market-driven development solutions. His projects are dynamic, visionary, unique to the place, and informed by the client’s DNA.
In addition to his design work and leadership, Bob is committed to giving back to the profession. He has a long history of professional leadership, including multiple AIA Dallas Board of Director and committee positions, serving as the 2015 President of AIA Dallas, and providing ongoing support to the Texas Society of Architects. Rounding out his professional accomplishments, he is an award-winning watercolorist and an adjunct professor at UTA’s School of Architecture.
